McWilliam Centre
The FE McWilliam Centre has won the
RICS Community Benefit Award. At a ceremony on the 20th May
2009 in the Waterfront Hall the award was presented to
Kennedy FitzGerald & Associates and Banbridge District
Council.

Grove Well Being Centre wins William Keown Trust Access
Award
The Grove Well Being Centre received the prestige William
Keown Trust Access Award at a ceremony held in December.
The Trust Access awards were established almost 20 years ago
to provide public recognition for those organisations that
have worked to make their buildings accessible for everyone
in the community.

National Healthcare Award
The Grove Health & Well Being Centre, Belfast designed by
Kennedy FitzGerald & Associates in association with Avanti
Architects has won the Best Community Care Design Award in
the Better Building for Healthcare Awards.

Designed to provide a range of services for the community
the Grove Health & Well Being Centre includes GP practices,
two swimming pools, a ten pin bowling alley and library.
The project also benefited from consultation with the Carbon
Trust to maximise low carbon design features such as natural
ventilation, rainwater harvesting and a green roof.

2008 - Strule Arts Centre, Omagh receives an RICS
Grand Final Commendation
The Strule Arts Centre, Omagh was Commended in the
Regeneration Category of the RICS Awards Grand Final held in
London on the 17th November 2008.
October 2008 - Grove Health
& Well Being Centre Shortlisted for National Healthcare
Award
The Grove Health & Well Being Centre has been shortlisted in
the Better Building for Healthcare Awards Community
Category. The winner will be announced on the 13th November
2008.

Kennedy FitzGerald & Associates have received the following
awards for the Strule Arts Centre, Omagh
RIBA Regional Award 2008
RSUA Design Award 2008 - Category Construction value over
£3million
RICS Award 2008 - Category Regeneration
RICS Award 2008 - Overall Award for Excellence in the Built
Environment
The Strule Arts Centre is a new theatre seating 400 people
with additional arts based facilities including a cinema /
lecture theatre, dance studios, gallery and recording
studios. The Arts Centre is the centre piece of a wider
riverside regeneration scheme that creates a new focus to
the town adjacent to the River Strule.

Competition Wins
The practice was successful with two
competition entries in February 2008.
As a result of a competitive design process Kennedy
FitzGerald in association with Avanti have been appointed
Architects for the Southern Health and Social Care Trust
under the Northern Ireland Primary Community Care
Infrastructure programme.
The Avanti / Kennedy FitzGerald team were successful in a
second healthcare design competition this month when the
Western Health and Social Care Trust confirmed our
appointment as architects for a new Mental Health Crisis
Unit.

RIBA Exams Passed
Congratulations to KFA staff Aaron
Crozier, Orla Conlon and Jonny Cassidy who have all passed
their final RIBA professional exams.
September 2007 - Kennedy FitzGerald &
Associates Competition Win
The Practice has won the RSUA architectural competition to
design the new Newry Leisure Centre. The practice won the
contest as one of a shortlist of six practices. Newry and
Mourne Council have now appointed KFA to develop their
design for the new £20 million facility which is to include
swimming and dry sports facilities and replaces the city’s
current sports centre and swimming pool.
May 2007 - University of Strathclyde
appoint Kennedy FitzGerald & Associates for New Sports &
Health Sciences Centre
Kennedy FitzGerald & Associates have been appointed by the
University of Strathclyde to design their new Sports &
Health Sciences Centre in Glasgow. This is an opportunity to
provide an exemplary sports and learning facility, one of
the largest in the UK. The project provides a replacement
for the University's existing sports centre as well as
providing academic teaching facilities for the Department of
Sports, Culture and the Arts and the Glasgow City Centre
Colleges.

2006 - RIBA Award for Falls Leisure Centre
Kennedy Fitzgerald & Associates received RIBA Regional Award
2005 for Falls Leisure Centre, Belfast. Project involved
construction of a new leisure centre with 25m pool, sports
